The cost to save an amphibian species — to keep it out of harm’s way from chytrid fungus, to oversee its breeding, and one day to release it back to the wild — is about $100,000. Save all 500 of the species on Amphibian Ark’s list, and we’re talking $50-$60 million. As written here a week ago, that’s just the opening weekend box office for Talladega Nights.
