Details have come in on the Leap Day “To Kiss a Frog” event held in Tula, Russia. Around 60 zoo-goers participated in the “To Kiss a Frog” event, which included the telling of the story of the beautiful Vasilissa who traveled the swamps kissing frogs to save them. The fairy tale shed light on the amphibian crisis. Inspired by the performance, visitors were photographed kissing a variety of frogs including the Australian green tree frog, Digging frogs, and the Common grass frog. In addition to the photo they also received a “Year of the Frog” badge as a reminder to raise awareness for the cause. Local media also came out to show support, and staff members even took turns kissing frogs!
